Data Engineer - Renewable Energy Focus

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with experience in renewable energy technologies, particularly solar and battery systems, who can leverage AI, machine learning, and event-driven programming to transform data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming, data pipelines, and distributed systems, with hands-on experience using tools like Apache Kafka to support real-time data streaming and processing. This role is critical to driving data innovation within our renewable energy initiatives and ensuring efficient data flow and analytics across our energy assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support data collection, transformation, and loading from various renewable energy sources, such as solar and battery systems.
• Event-Driven Architecture: Develop and implement event-driven data solutions to enable real-time data processing and analysis. Utilize event streaming platforms like Apache Kafka to handle large volumes of streaming data.
• AI & Machine Learning Integration: Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to deploy AI and machine learning models that predict and optimize renewable energy generation, storage, and consumption patterns.
• Data Management & Storage: Design efficient data storage solutions, including data warehouses, lakes, and NoSQL/SQL databases, to ensure the accessibility and reliability of renewable energy data.
• Programming & Scripting: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala to automate data processes and facilitate data transformation.
• Data Analysis & Visualization: Provide support for data analysis by creating tools and scripts to visualize and interpret large datasets, generating actionable insights for renewable energy operations.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  
  

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science and or Applied Mathematics, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in Renewable Energy Systems: Demonstrated experience with data related to solar and battery systems, including knowledge of industry standards and data flows specific to renewable energy.
• Proficiency with Kafka: Proven experience with Apache Kafka for building and managing event-driven data systems and stream processing.
• Technical Skills in Programming: Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with a focus on creating efficient and reliable data solutions.
• AI & Machine Learning Application: Experience working with AI and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) to integrate predictive models into data workflows.
• Data Warehousing & ETL Expertise: Familiarity with designing and managing data storage solutions like SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud storage (e.g., AWS, Azure), and experience with ETL tools and frameworks.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to design complex data processes and solve data-related problems, with an emphasis on automation and efficiency.
• Cloud & Big Data Tools: Exposure to cloud-based platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) is preferred.
