Role:
- Conduct advanced data exploration and analysis using modern data mining techniques (including machine learning), visualization tools, or a combination thereof, to provide insights that help employees and stakeholders make better decisions.
- Evaluate the potential and usability of raw, unstructured internal and external data sources for use in product analysis and data-driven decision-making in general.
- Write highly detailed SQL queries that extract, transform, and load data from storage to an appropriate format, using joins, nesting, and more advanced operations as an integral part of data processing pipelines, with cost and execution time efficiency in mind.
- Ensure that solutions meet and adapt to actual business needs to continuously generate value by listening to and guiding colleagues from Data & Analytics and employees from different functions.
- Lead and educate the organization on agile ways of working in relation to advanced analytics, especially on topics like performance measurement and hypothesis testing as standard practice to maximize key metrics and ensure that we achieve the OKRs set by Group Digital.
- Proactively manage relevant organizational processes, including meetings with relevant stakeholders and/or teams to drive intended outcomes.
- Ensure that analytical solutions are built according to best practices by continuously learning from and comparing against industry standards.
- Engage in interviews, coaching, and mentoring of junior team members to ensure transfer of skills and a high-performing team.
Essential requirements:
Broad knowledge of data mining techniques, modern visualisation software, or relevant domain datasets and tools for analysing them
- Extensive knowledge of data pre-processing techniques, e.g. how to handle missing data
- Extensive understanding of how to leverage large datasets to improve decision-making in a business setting
- Broad knowledge of relevant scripting languages (such as Python) and the role of notebook environments for sharing findings and code with others
- Broad knowledge of probability and statistics, including hypothesis testing using controlled experiments (e.g. A/B testing)
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and the role it plays in data analysis
- Good understanding of collaborative software engineering practices (Agile, DevOps), in which solutions evolve through the effort of selforganising cross-functional teams
Broad knowledge of digital product development principles and the importance of rapid validated learning cycles to optimise performance long term
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, (Junior) Data/Web Analyst or (Junior) Data Scientist
Extensive knowledge of data processing for large datasets
- Experience with presenting to large audiences and senior stakeholders
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments, e.g. Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
- Preferred: Experience with digital product development in a retail setting
