Job Title: Data Engineer

Job Summary: The Data Engineer with a focus on healthcare will be responsible for developing and delivering end-to-end data analytics requirements within the healthcare domain. This role involves working closely with the data platform and data analytics teams, as well as healthcare professionals, to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the data migration and integration processes. The candidate will be instrumental in handling sensitive health-related data, adhering to HIPAA regulations, and implementing healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and ICD-10. They will also collaborate with clinical stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical specifications, contributing to the improvement of patient care and healthcare services through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and preprocess data to remove inconsistencies, errors, missing values, and outliers to ensure data quality.
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to represent business entities, attributes, relationships, and data flows, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best practices.
  • Identify data sources and perform data integration through ETL processes from multiple systems into centralized data repositories.
  • Perform data validation, testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data models and data integration processes.
  • Interpret data schemas, query data using SQL, and perform data validation of raw files like CSV, TXT, XLS, and XLSX.
  • Integrate data pipelines on databases such as Snowflake, Databricks and PostgreSQL and execute analytics and reports on visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau or Qliksense.
  • Guide team members and work on data mapping, making data gaps documents, and discussing with customers to identify data gaps and help in a quick turnaround time.
  • Work with large and complex data sets and support business with data solutions, including gathering data and performing analysis from various sources such as databases, APIs, and external sources.

Data Engineering Experience:

  • Must have strong knowledge of ETL and Business Intelligence tool like Pentaho or SSIS
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with BI & Reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Qliksense.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and database design.
  • Experience in working on cloud platforms: AWS or Azure and worked on Orchestration

Tools like Airflow or Azkaban

  • Must have strong working knowledge of databases: Amazon redshift, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB
  • Good knowledge of Datawarehouse concepts and different product modules.
  • Strong data management skills, including data cleansing, preprocessing, and data integrity checking.
  • Creation of data pipelines and migration of data from one database to another that includes PostgreSQL, redshift, Snowflake,

Healthcare Experience:

  • Knowledge of healthcare data and experience with healthcare payment models, especially value-based care.
  • Understanding of EMR/EHR systems and clinical workflows.
  • Experience in working on data model integration with EHR tools like Epic.
  • Understanding of standard healthcare transaction sets such as X12 (834, 835, 837i/p/d), FHIR, HL7.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards, such as HIPAA, HITECH, and GDPR.

  • Experienced in working on multiple lines of business such as commercial, Medicare and Medicaid population.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and distributes teams, including IT and business teams.
