The Role

The Data Analyst is responsible to undertake data analysis, produce and maintain data reports and dashboards of interest to the department and the government and undertake analytical research projects.


As a DEWR data analyst you will gather data from various sources and then review and interpret it using data analysis tools to provide meaningful information and insights to help the government and department make better-informed decisions.


Part of your role will be to transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals. Creating and editing visual content including charts, graphs or infographics.


The creation and maintenance of this analysis helps the department and the government to better understand how one program effects other departmental programs. Finally, the team will have a role to play in ensuring data is communicated efficiently and effectively across the department.


Duties And Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the APS Level 4 can include:

  • Working within the team, seek dashboard requirement specifications, creating and maintaining dashboards of interest to the department as directed.
  • Provide PowerBI support to others across the department.
  • Assist in undertaking analytical projects as directed.


Qualifications and Education

Essential

  • University degree, with some statistics, data related courses included

Eligibility

Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.
