CFD Research is seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing Aerospace and Defense Solutions Division (ADS) in Huntsville, AL.This position will join a multidisciplinary R&D team focused on delivering machine learning (ML)/artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to customers with a strong interest in improving & advancing techniques used in system identification, uncertainty quantification, guidance and control systems, and intelligent data collection. The cutting-edge techniques and processes will be used to provide high-fidelity information, closer to real-time, using fewer computing resources than current techniques and in some cases doing things that are not yet possible with current technology.

The engineer in this role will perform data analysis, develop algorithms, and train machine learning (ML)/deep learning (DL) models to solve a variety of problems from aerospace system modeling and control. The candidate will continue to investigate and apply the latest ML/DL techniques for classification, detection, and characterization of signals of interest. The candidate will also support model uncertainty quantification, error estimation, validation, and refinement. Ultimately, the position will support CFD Research's effort to optimize ML models and

preprocessing/postprocessing

code for efficient deployment.

Basic Qualifications:Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (or be eligible to obtain) and maintain a SECRET Clearance.Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Physics, or related STEM Discipline (PhD Degree is a plus)Proficient programming skills in Python or C/C++Familiarity with machine learning methods and applications:Supervised learning: regression, classification, etc.Unsupervised learning: Clustering, dimension reduction, generative modeling, etc.Reinforcement learning: Model-based and/or model-free methodsUncertainty quantification: cross-validation, ensembling, and/or bootstrappingExperience with versions control systems such as GitOther Qualifications:Experience with CUDA or OpenCL is a plusExperience working and collaborating in a research or development environment

About the Group : CFD Research's Aerospace Machine Learning Group is developing a portfolio of traditional modeling and simulation, machine learning, and reduced-order modeling tools for supporting aerospace R&D. This includes development of predictive machine learning and reduced-order models for (1) rapid estimation of aerospace vehicle properties; (2) optimal data collection through intelligent adaptive design of experiment techniques; (3) affordable uncertainty quantification; and (4) multi-disciplinary design optimization.
