Senior Data Engineer

Job description

Fortune 5 CVS Health has a dynamic opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our dedicated Pharmacy Services Finance team.

You will be responsible for understanding, preparing, processing, and analyzing data. You will be tasked with making the data valuable and useful for operational and/or decision-making purposes.

You may need to team with either Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and data engineers to automate metrics and to create highly useful information. This position requires collaboration skills as it is necessary to work cross functionally and influence a wide range of Pharmacy Services finance departments. Ideal candidate will have good analytical and communication skills. In addition, the individual must be able to independently interact with and influence senior partners and demonstrate a proven track record of delivering results.
In this role you will design, model, document, and guide the logical and conceptual relationship of data for metrics and analytics. Analyze customer needs and investigate data available for analysis.

Position can sit in Cumberland-RI, Hartford-CT preferred. But, also open to Work from Home-Flexible.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze data from different areas of the business.
  • Develop and maintain complex scripts/programs to support data computation, data loading, and data integration, to include future data integration activities.
  • Automate metrics and reporting mechanisms for customers.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their problems and use data to answer their business questions.
  • Prepare and analyze data. This can include locating, profiling, cleansing, extracting, mapping, importing, transforming, validating, or modeling.
  • Apply query, data exploration and transformation, basic statistical methods, and visualization techniques to help create business insights or improve data quality.
  • Perform validation and testing to confirm the accuracy of the information created.
  • Interpret results of analyses, identify trends and issues, and develop recommendations to support business objectives.
  • Communicate complex information so that it is easy to understand and influences other to act based on the useful information provided.
  • Implement and maintain decision support and master data management solutions.

Successful candidate will display:
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience working with large data sets from multiple sources
  • Experience collaborating with key stakeholders to gather and analyze needs and requirements to design and implement robust data management solutions that support the identified needs
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of directors, managers, colleagues, and external entities

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 60,300
Maximum: 126,600

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications
5 or more years’ of experience in financial or healthcare data analysis/management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to create, maintain, and improve Alteryx workflows and architectural structure.
  • Understands current data context, processes and availability.
  • Understanding of ETL tools: SSMS (SQL Server Management Services), Alteryx and other technologies to move and manipulate data.
  • Experience working with large sets of data and with stakeholders to determine the potential use and value of a new dataset, as well as developing a data model that can deliver that value.
  • Ability to combine complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to explain the process in a clear and concise manner.
  • Project management capabilities to manage multiple project streams of varying complexity; propensity for thinking through projects in a process-oriented way.

  • Experience working in Agile development methodologies
  • Competence with information management tools – Alteryx, SSMS, SAP, Salesforce, SharePoint, Tableau or similar analytical and information management applications.
  • Demonstrable experience in a role involving ‘critical thinking’: i.e., ability to analyze remove constraints, make decisions and problem solve self-sufficiently, without requiring ongoing direction setting.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in a role demonstrating excellent time management, able to analyze workload and prioritize time based on changing priorities

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
