Data Engineer
This is a hybrid role working from home and our offices in either London or Leicester.
About Us
Home. There’s no place like it. And there’s no feeling like helping people create the joy of feeling truly at home. At Dunelm, that’s what we do. We’re the UK's number one choice for homewares because we make home life lovelier for our customers. And the caring and supportive culture we've created makes this a place you'll feel right at home too.
You might not think it, but remaining the first choice for savvy homeware-shoppers involves some pretty advanced tech. We’ve recently made our whole company serverless, making us the largest user of AWS Lambdas in Europe (second in the world), and we’re bringing more and more tech into our stores.
Join our Tech Team and you’ll not only be part of stimulating projects that are making an impact across our business, you’ll be somewhere you can build a long-term career that always promises to challenge and excite.
Find your happy place.
About Data Engineering
You will be joining our growing Data Engineering Chapter with a primary focus on designing, building, augmenting, and optimising our cloud data warehouse.
We’d love a candidate who is honest, has integrity, and self-directed when it comes to their approach to work. Someone who isn’t afraid to voice when they think something could be improved, someone who sees a challenge as a mountain to be peaked and someone who can work and coach a team of diverse and experienced engineers.
You should ideally have good experience working within cloud data warehousing, with a solid understanding of Kimball Data Modelling techniques to produce robust and high-quality data products for an enterprise organisation.
It would be an advantage to have a good understanding of Snowflake and AWS cloud infrastructure to help ‘solutionise’ and understand our wider data platform in ingesting and provisioning data throughout the business. Experience working with infrastructure as code using DevOps best practices, developing high quality code in Python/DBT/SQL is beneficial.
With a longer-term focus to support the business in its aspirations for better data products as well as more advanced ones (ML/AI)
Behaviours/Values
Our shared values of 'act like owners', 'keep listening and learning', 'long term thinking', and 'stronger together' help ensure we are always finding better ways of doing things and spending our time focusing on what’s important.
In Data Engineering, we behave and act like owners of our business, and by extension our piece of it, the data platform. This gives us an edge to ensure that we design and deliver data products that we’re extremely proud of.
We don’t think about just the ‘here and now’ at Dunelm, we think about our data products with long-term thinking to be augmented, adapted, and enhanced to enable the business to strive even higher.
We firmly believe that from top to bottom of our chapter, that we’re stronger together. That means frequent get togethers to solve problems, challenge the status quo, enjoy ourselves and develop the relationships both remotely and in person.
We’re dedicated to our mantra of ‘keep listening and learning’. With development plans to take you where you want in your career, learning and enhancing our offering with cutting edge technology. Dunelm is a place where everyone, in all levels will listen to ideas, thoughts, share and collaborate to make this a place where every day feels a bit like a school day.
