Job Title:

Data Engineer / Architect

This role is based in Vancouver, aligned to the Slalom Vancouver Office. Candidates must currently reside in the Vancouver market to be considered.

Slalom Vancouver is looking for Data Engineers to join our team and help grow our Data & AI practice. As a Data Engineering team member, you will develop and deliver modern data solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and implementing cloud data solutions using Azure.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and manage data solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processes, and data integrations to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Data wrangling of heterogeneous data sources for exploring and discovering new insights
  • Develop and implement data integration processes using Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into data warehouses or data lakes
  • Use big data technologies like Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or Snowflake to handle and analyze large volumes of data
  • Technical delivery will include the build, troubleshooting, or optimizing of some or all of the following: Batch/Streaming Ingestion, ETL/ELT, Storage, Data Lakes, OLTP Databases, OLAP Data Warehouses, Data Modelling
  • Be a self-starter, effective in breaking down large problems into smaller ones, and eager to regularly share what you learn with others within your projects and in the broader Slalom community
  • Supports people processes in capability / account (e.g., delivery, utilization targets, client grown, pre-sales)
  • Expand trusted relationships beyond primary customers and teams growing and managing professional network


What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of data engineering and/or related consulting experience
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build and sustain strong and trusted client relationships (including through Stakeholder Management)
  • Proven experience using cloud data solutions with a focus on Azure and Databricks; experience with Microsoft Fabric or Snowflake is a bonus
  • Experience in data modeling, design, and development using cloud technologies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing data integration and transformations, specifically to transform data between source and consumption layers, and for data migrations
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and data analytics techniques
  • Experience in any or all of project delivery, analyzing complex client needs, understanding customers, using technology to solve business problems, and helping businesses and teams perform better
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


Hybrid/In office: We are hybrid but there are expectations that if your team leader requires you onsite that you are able to meet those expectations/requirements


Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the expected base salary pay range is $98,000 to $125,000. In addition, there is potential for a 10% discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation will depend upon individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
