TITLE: Data Engineer
Location:Houston, TX

Our Client is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Business Intelligence Team. The Data Engineer will manage the ETL data integrations, operational data stores and data warehouses, and technologies that support the BI data management platforms. This role is based in Spring, TX and reports to the Business Intelligence Manager. The Business Intelligence Manager will set goals, priorities, and task assignments. The individual must be able to self-manage their activities once tasks are assigned. This role requires cross-functional work with our Enterprise Applications and Oracle ERP teams as well as working directly with internal users when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting incident/service requests involving database performance, integrity and integration issues
  • Supporting hourly, daily, and nightly loads into the data warehouse
  • Developing simple data models and integration packages to populate them
  • Importing/Exporting data in a Hybrid environment (On-Premise/Cloud)
  • Assisting BI Team's data warehouse development by identifying and integrating required source data
  • Develop ETL Packages using ETL tools, such as WhereScape and MS SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), to automate the flow of data from Application Systems into our Data Warehouse
  • Working in team environment where brainstorming, innovation, and collaboration is critical while also maintaining personal responsibility for completion of assigned projects on time and of high quality
  • Communicating cross-departmentally regarding project scope, progress and findings regarding data
  • Contributing to our Enterprise BI Architecture

  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server development skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years experience managing, supporting and developing database and ETL systems for a multi-platform application portfolio.
  • Experience with and knowledge of data modeling of both normalized and de-normalized databases.
  • Experience with producing data schema diagrams from existing database structures.
  • Experience in designing and developing production SQL databases and ETL packages.
  • Experience with resolving data quality and other data integration issues.
  • Construction industry and job cost accounting preferred.
