Data Engineer

The Data Engineer will develop and maintain data modeling, database administration and set up of database instance/s for the various environments with access from CMS Azure Government Cloud (MAG). The individual will work as part of a project team of data engineers, Cloud Architects, analysts and BI developers to implement a Snowflake environment to ingest a wide variety of data sources to allow for data analytics

Responsibilities

• Data Modeling to support ingestion of a wide variety of CMS data sources and requirements from data analysts and other stakeholders
• Database administration activities such as RBAC design and development, DDL deployment, Clustering keys analysis for performance tuning etc.
• Assist data engineers on POCs to efficiently ingest data form Azure blob storage and other data sources
• Work with stakeholders Cost optimization of Snowflake resources

Qualifications

• 
  US citizen or lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust background investigation
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or relevant discipline required
• 8+ years of overall work experience
• 6+ years of data modeling and database administration experience with a variety of databases
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript or similar
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, clustering key analysis, sizing, and cost optimization
• Working knowledge of database security, audit and RBAC controls
• Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Database deployment automation experience via CI/CD tools such as CloudBees Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, Aws Code Pipeline etc. is a plus
• Experience working with un/semi structured (XML, JSON, PARQUET, video, audio, images, pdf) data a plus
• Some hands-on experience with Snowflake a plus
• Willingness to learn and train with Snowflake required
• Ability to obtain Public Trust level clearance.
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and passion for continuous learning
