Job description

This role will work closely with the Data Operations team, leveraging existing data assets while developing solutions that work with existing analytics frameworks and with a continuous focus on improving mental health outcomes.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Data Scientist to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Plan, design, develop and run data science experiments that deliver insight into health care delivery
  • Deliver working analytics (including Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence using variety of tools and statistical techniques
  • Lead data science project and solution delivery
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues, clients and partners to develop and progress challenging but realistic plans

About You

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • While not mandatory, a bachelor degree in a relevant discipline area, such as statistics, applied mathematics, machine learning, data science, operations research, computer science or engineering would be well regarded
  • Previous experience working in the health domain, especially with clinical data will be highly regarded
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time (up to 6 months with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $5 615.70 - $5 942.10 per fortnight

Data Operations mission is to build, support and maintain industry leading data assets that enable clinical practice improvement, digital transformation and analytics across Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) provide integrated hospital and community specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age spectrum. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented. This role will work with all divisions of the MHSS.
