UES, a BlueHalo Company is seeking a Data Scientist / Bioinformatics Analyst to support the Airmen Systems Directorate within the Human Performance Wing at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

This position will require a strong understanding of the analysis of large biological data sets. Data sets will be diverse and can include biometric data, genomics data, transcriptomic data, proteomic data, and metabolomic data. The position will also consult with experimentalists to optimize experimental design (focusing on statistical power and sample size). Concise communication of those statistical findings to primary investigators will be paramount. The Data Scientist will also serve as a technical expert who can provide early-guideline and detailed-requirements for both individual level sensors and their suit to various in-house project leads and collaborators. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a high level of organization, and close attention to detail will be required. A self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment will be best for this role.

  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • MS (with 2+ years’ experience) or PhD in Applied Mathematics, (Bio)Statistics, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • Proficiency in technical writing and presentations
  • Fluency in standard MS Office software applications


Nice to Haves

  • Experience with data analysis software packages and languages including R, Python and MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated expertise with advanced data analysis methods leveraging artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) including support vector machines (SVM), artificial neural networks (ANN) and principal component analysis (PCA).
  • Experience writing manuscripts as demonstrated through co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscript.
